Our Reading Power volunteer tutors are well-trained and supported by our professional staff throughout the school year. For new first and second grade tutors, an initial, two-day training is held at the beginning of the school year – in addition to a one-day refresher training session alongside our veteran volunteers. New and returning prekindergarten and kindergarten tutors attend a one-day training session in the fall. Ongoing training is conducted at our weekly ‘table meetings’ each day you come to tutoring. New tutors join our team all year long and on-site training is happening daily. Reading Power fosters an environment of lifelong learning for our volunteers, professional staff, and students.
